More from the noble Mashpee “tribe”

To be fair, at this point there is only slight indication that any Mashpees were involved but this kind of thing sure does follow them around, doesn’t it?

A man is in the hospital after he was stabbed early Sunday morning at the annual Mashpee Wampanoag tribal gathering, Mashpee Police said.

Narragansett tribe member stabbed at Cape powwow

A 19-year-old Narragansett tribal member is in stable condition at Cape Cod Hospital after being stabbed while trying to break up a fight at a Mashpee Wampanoag powwow last weekend, according to his mother.

Officers were met by hostility when they arrived and have gotten little cooperation from the 25 to 30 people who were at the scene, (Mashpee Police Chief Rodney) Collins said.

“Until some of the so-called witnesses step up and assist in our investigation, we’re being obstructed in making an arrest,” he said.

The local police have authority on tribal land there, which has been deeded to the Mashpee Wampanoags but has not been placed in trust, Collins said.

Collins said that as best they can determine at this point in their investigation is that there was “tension” between a Narragansett tribal member and a Wampanoag.

Narragansett Tribe sources said they had concerns about a possible “cover-up” by Mashpee Wampanoags.

“This was like an attempted murder and nothing’s been done,” a source close to the family said Tuesday morning.

…and from the Irony Department.

FREETOWN — A pole with the words “May peace prevail on Earth” in Wampanoag, Portuguese, Creole and English was dedicated in Memorial Park Sunday.

What I find to be the most disturbing about this story is that there were 25 to 30 people at the scene and no one is willing to help the police. There is a nineteen year old kid fighting for his life in a hospital bed and no one is talking?! Obstruction of justice as far as I am concerned.

Sickening….what if that was your kid?
