The unseasoned Joe Pacheco (nephew of the snakeoil salesman, Marc) has been the principal waffler on the Regional Task Force on Casino Impacts.
In an interview recently he seemed to imply that for $400,001 the Town of Plympton could purchase Raynham.
He (Pacheco) wants slot machines to safeguard jobs and the $400,000 a year the track sends to the town in host fees.
“I don’t think Plympton has that money to give to Raynham,” he said.
In a previous interview he claimed he was ready to sell Raynham to the Mashpees.
He said his town was the first in the state to vote in opposition to a tribal casino, but his board has come to the conclusion, “Mitigation is the best route. What grounds are there to fight?’”
Middleborough would be an asset on the task force, he said, because the tribe has guaranteed to take the town’s calls.
Most recently he invited the Middleborough Propaganda Committee and the Mashpees to address the Raynham BOS. The Middleborough pawn Brian Giovanoni was the sole attendee-
Giovanoni, attempting to address concerns expressed by Raynham Police Chief Louis Pacheco associated with increased traffic coming off Route 24 in Raynham onto the highway, said that “when the governor sits down with the tribe, that’s when we’ll be negotiating a regional agreement.”
“Money from the casino will be going to the state. The governor will have to sit down with the tribe and negotiate something like this. And Route 44 is something that needs to be addressed,” he said.
Eyewitnesses tell a different story (quoting Giovanoni)-
“They’re a sovereign nation, like England. And if you show them respect, well, then maybe they’ll be willing to help you out.”
On Thursday the simpleton Hendricks on a radio talk show-
Hendricks said the tribe has no plans to deal directly with the surrounding towns, who have formed a task force to study the issue. They need to ask for a slice of what the tribe anticipates it will pay the state, he said.
“We won’t … just start cutting deals with other towns,” Hendricks said during the radio segment. “We can’t just pay out to everybody.”
I guess the bidding war ended before it began, eh Joey?

Dear C&S!
Love the blog - also thanks for linking to my Raynham story. And here I was, starting to think I was the only person in the world unmoved by the thought of a whole new country setting up house down the street.
Thanks for redeeming my faith!
Keep that eyebrow raised - and keep talking about it, too. You have a totally new and welcome perspective!
Love and smooches,
Gladys Kravitz
