Give DeVille enough Rope(s)…

Steve Bailey goes after Mrs DeVille’s well-known questionable ties to the casino industry.

Heaven forbid…

…a capitalist venture engages in collectivist tactics.
Comcast Corp. on Tuesday acknowledged hiring people to fill seats before the start of a contentious federal hearing on how the company manages its broadband network, allowing its employees to take those seats when the filled-to-capacity hearing started.

MeMe Roth still hates America.

The shrill anti-fun skeleton is at it again-
“NAAO’s stance is pretty simple,” said NAAO President MeMe Roth. “America is suffering from the twin public health crises of diabetes and obesity. No civic organization–including the Girl Scouts of the USA–should promote obesity, regardless of how profitable it is.

Visit Middleborough where the driveways are paved with taxpayers’ money!

Channel 5 in Boston ran a story on the subsidies still paid out to the wealthier Indian tribes. What they failed to mention is the deal Middleborough cut with the Mashpees.

RIP Mr. Buckley

I disagreed with him at times but admired and respected him all of the time. One of the last true gentlemen.

The Law of Unintended Consequences

I don’t think that this is the last we will hear of this.
Compact fluorescent lights — those energy-efficient bulbs popular as a way to combat global warming — can pose a small risk of mercury poisoning to infants, young children and pregnant women if they break, two reports concluded today.

I…uh…I…ewwww…

yuck
A 16-foot python stalked a family dog for days before swallowing the pet whole in front of horrified children in the Australian tropics, animal experts said Wednesday.
I don’t have many unfounded fears. This would be one of them. Snakes. Not the swallowing part.

It is all in how you market it.

If it sucks, put “patriot” in its name.
Mr. Obama’s proposal would designate certain companies as “patriot employers” and favor them over other, presumably not so patriotic, businesses.

Ouch!

That’s gotta hurt.
(Deval) Patrick could function as Obama’s wrang-wrang, Vonnegut’s term for a pioneer who by his bad example steers others away from a false course. Before neolibs go into a permanent campaign swoon, shouldn’t Obama send them at least a subtle signal that he understands this?

Time to ramp up the rhetoric.

Dennis Whittlesey rears his ugly head.
“The anti-trust people — I could be ruder than that but I won’t be — they’ve persevered and come at it and come at it.”

RI press releases

Carcieri
“I’m extremely gratified that the Supreme Court of the United States has agreed to hear our argument in this case of national importance,” said Governor Donald L. Carcieri. “This is great news for the people of Rhode Island and an important step for every state facing similar issues. For too long, the legitimate concerns of [...]

Dirty money and thuggery can sway small town politics but they can’t buy the Supremes.
Go get ‘em, Don! (and Martha)

Now that I have that out of the way, how about some civil discourse?

Middleborough Selectman and Chief Propagandist bondadambond Godwins his own blog.
I hadn’t thought of that. Get it out of the way early. Credibility be damned.
What malfunction causes you to equate the extermination of millions of people to fighting against a casino?

How about “O-bubble”?

Boston Globe
Perhaps it bodes well for Barack Obama that his momentum has so many names: Barack-mentum, Mo-bama-mentum, Obama-mentum, Obama-rama-mentum, Oba-mentum, and O-mentum have all been used. O-mentum is a particularly delicious word: it rhymes with momentum, while bringing to mind Oprah, Obama’s most famous supporter.
